How to beat Quria Blade Transform in Destiny 2 (Rushdown boss guide)

A legend's come back for you to gun it down... again.

It came as a bit of a surprise, but this year’s Destiny 2 Guardian Games ended up being one of the very best iterations of the event, bar none. That’s all thanks to the phenomenal Rushdown mode, featuring Destiny 2‘s best boss fights in a mad dash to the end.

The thing about Rushdown Mode is that it can get a fair bit challenging at the highest difficulty settings, though. Since it’s a bespoke, non-mandatory game mode, Bungie could crank things up to eleven without worrying too much, and certain boss fights are particularly painful if you’re unprepared.

Take the legendary Quria, Blade Transform, for example. This Taken Vex Hydra played a massive role in Destiny‘s old lore, but it was also the final encounter of the Season of the Splicer, and that particular boss fight is what’s been modified for Rushdown. Here’s how to beat it!

How to defeat Quria, Blade Transform in Destiny 2 Rushdown Mode?

Whereas the majority of Guardian Games 2025’s Rushdown boss fights are fairly straightforward Destiny fare, Quria takes things up a notch or two in most respects. It’s a complex boss fight, for one, that necessitates knowing the mechanics and the arena ahead of time. On top of that, The Dreaming Mind itself is no slouch, being able to take down a fully armored Guardian in mere seconds if they’re not careful.

The baseline first, then: there are specific bits and bobs you’re going to want to equip to make the Quria, Blade Transform fight easier for you. Firstly, Void Resist and Sniper Resist Mods are important, so be sure to stock up on those. The exact number of stacks you want to have will depend on your personal preference and build, naturally, so some trial and error may pay off in this respect.

Secondly, ensure that you’ve got plenty of crowd-control options at your disposal. The fight with Quria is a staged ordeal, and in between damage windows you’ll need to contend with a substantial number of chaff enemies wherever you go.

As far as specific item choices and class builds go, I’ve got a few handy recommendations to keep in mind:

  • Well Warlock is a great choice for sheer survivability.
  • Speaker’s Sight, specifically, increases your Fireteam’s odds of survival further still (Restorative Turrets, etc.).
  • AoE grenade launchers work wonders in this arena, specifically Witherhoard if you can spare the Exotic slot. Anarchy might be a good alternative, depending on your preference.
  • Heavy Machine Guns can make short work of most chaff enemy groups: make good use of them.
  • For Hunters, a Solar-focused Sunshot build could be a good Red Bar enemy clearing solution.
  • For Titans, a Banner build is an excellent survivability option, as long as you can keep proccing Banner of War often enough.

Destiny 2 Rushdown Quria fight mechanics explained

Now that we’ve got all the prep work sorted out, it’s time to talk mechanics as this has been the key stumbling block for most random Fireteams in my experience. Quria, Blade Transform is more mechanic-heavy than many other fights found in Rundown, and Guardians only used to Strike-level bosses will find it too complicated off the bat, which then leads to further confusion and unnecessary frustrations. Here’s a guide on exactly what to do in this encounter, step-by-step:

  • Upon spawning in, attack Quria directly until it becomes immune to all your attacks.
  • During the damage-dealing portions of the fight, you’ll be beset by Capture Drones looking to Detain you. Try to take these down before they get to you, otherwise the rest of your Fireteam will have to jump in which subsequently takes the attention away from Quria.
  • Notice the hovering Vex Diamonds around the arena: attacking these loads up cover for your Fireteam for a little while.
  • After the first phase is over, a Vex Minotaur and a Taken Minotaur will spawn on the opposite ends of the arena. You need to kill both of them before Quria’s immunity falls. However, before the Minotaurs become vulnerable to damage, you’ll need to destroy a specific denoted Vex Diamond, then take its Authentication Key over to the indicated dunk station. This includes some potentially challenging platforming, so a skilled Warlock or a Hunter might play this role best.
  • Remember that you need to keep plenty of DPS potential at hand for Quria itself, so don’t waste it all on the Minotaurs ahead of time. Do just enough damage to kill them, and once both are taken down, a new DPS phase will begin.
  • Repeat the process for as many times as it takes until Quria, Blade Transform is dead.

Setting Guardian Games and Rushdown aside for a little bit, if you’re keen on playing something like Destiny 2 but don’t want to engage with FOMO-heavy live-service elements of the experience, I may have just the thing for you. This list of largely offline games features elements of Destiny 2‘s core gameplay loop in wildly different contexts, but they’re effective just the same as Destiny often is. If not, though, Quria awaits!
